How It All Began
A little over two years ago, an unfortunate incident occurred. Rosario Zito, the owner of Giovanni's, was shot while closing the restaurant. This traumatic event had a profound impact on the Zito family. Todd Kersting, Zito's brother-in-law, shared that the APD Chaplain Unit was there to offer support during the grieving process. Their presence provided much-needed comfort and guidance. This act of kindness inspired the family to give back and organize the "Pizza with Police" event. The Significance of the Event
This event holds great significance for the community. It gives people a chance to meet the police officers on a more personal level and understand the work they do. It helps to bridge the gap between the police and the community, fostering a sense of trust and unity. For those who are beginning to grieve, it offers a source of support and a chance to connect with others who are going through similar experiences. The "Pizza with Police" event not only provides an opportunity for community interaction but also shows the positive impact that small acts of kindness can have. By donating the proceeds from pizza sales to the Chaplain Unit, Giovanni's is making a meaningful contribution to the well-being of the community.
